Unite reaction to Airbus' warning of cost savings

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2007) -

Unite national officer, Bernie Hamilton says:

"We recognise the problems associated with the weakness of the dollar. Airbus in the UK currently has a full order book and the company would be unable to meet demand if they made any further cuts in this country. Staff have already dealt with the challenges of the Power 8 restructuring which resulted in significant cuts in the UK.

"However, we are keeping a careful eye on the future and the union would strongly resist further job cuts and the outsourcing of work to low cost economies."
