Global Movement for Humanity Unites Everyday Heroes With World Leaders in Entertainment, Politics and Philanthropy in Common Cause

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Mar 6, 2014) -  Demonstrating the global traction in its mission of empowering acts of kindness and service in order to create a positive shift in our global society, unite4:good today announced that public officials and community leaders in Africa and Asia have joined the cause.

Malawi President Joyce Banda and the Joyce Banda Foundation and Founder of USIN Celebrations Mrs. Uma Sengupta have both given their commitments to support unite4:good's mission.

The news comes on the heels of the star-studded unite4:humanity event in Los Angeles on February 27, where the entertainment industry's brightest stars including actor Robert De Niro, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Selena Gomez, Alicia Keys, Philomena Lee, Demi Lovato, Martin Scorsese and John Sykes were recognized and honored for their philanthropic efforts as Inspiration Award recipients. Special guests on hand to present the awards included Forest Whitaker, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., William H. Macy, Jada Pinkett Smith, Eva Longoria, Steve Coogan and Wilmer Valderrama.

"Not only are everyday heroes and people from all walks joining this movement for humanity by the thousands, but leaders in entertainment, politics and philanthropy from around the world are as well," said unite4:good Founder and global philanthropist, Anthony Melikhov. "Through empowering action, creating new programs and uniting individuals and organizations in innovative ways, we will ignite positive and lasting change on a global scale."

Joyce Banda Foundation in Africa

The Joyce Banda Foundation supports numerous important projects for the sustainable development of Malawi including the only secondary school for orphaned students in the country. President Banda and unite4:good are planning a Unity Day in Malawi later this year to celebrate the nation's generosity and compassion. Edgar M. Duarte whose focus is outreach in Africa for unite4:good is also working to expand partnerships to South Africa and Liberia.

"The unite4:good movement has the potential to transform world populations," said President Banda. "My Foundation and the people of Malawi are getting behind the movement and joining forces to create a kinder world through kindness, charity and awareness."

Ms. Sengupta, USIN Celebrations in India

unite4:good's Global Outreach Director Rhonda Binda also took the movement's vision to India, where famous humanitarians such as Mother Theresa and Ghandi have left their mark. In collaboration with Mrs. Uma Sengupta, founder of USIN Celebrations who spends several months a year working with NGOs in West Bengal, unite4:good joined over 150 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including UNICEF and the local Boys and Girls Scouts at the Rotary Club In Kolkotta.

The "Day of NGO Unity" focused on the importance of collaboration with each other as well as members of the business community, media and government, who were also in attendance, in order to reach new heights of success and capacity through coalition building. unite4:good aims to match the needs of NGOs and non-profits with the resources of individuals and institutions alike via its global network and unique on-line platform.
