United Data Technologies (UDT) Among the First to Deploy Intel's Versatile New Data Center Capabilities

DORAL, FL--(Marketwire - Mar 6, 2012) - United Data Technologies (UDT) will take the lead in transforming the modern data center by being among the first integrators for the versatile new Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600/1600 product families, designed to meet the diverse and demanding needs of today's computing environments.

This new family of Intel server processors enables UDT to derive greater value for its clients by helping to reduce data center cost and complexity, and by employing automation to improve service, efficiency, and agility.

"We see again how Intel continues to outpace the competition and deliver innovation in the data center with the Intel Xeon E5-2600/1600 processor. For our clients, the demand for more processing power, more efficiency, more consolidation, and more services is increasing at unprecedented levels. Fortunately with Intel, UDT can continue to help our clients accomplish more," said Daniel Rodriguez, CTO and VP of Technology Services.

For even the most demanding computing environments, the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families1 deliver an optimum combination of performance, built-in capabilities, and cost-effectiveness. These processors are designed to meet evolving data center needs with up to 80 percent higher performance2 over earlier processor generations, as well as improved energy efficiency, offering more cores, more cache, and increased memory capacity.

The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families feature second-generation Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.05, which delivers more speed when it's needed for peak workloads. Another performance-enhancement feature, Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX), can double performance6 in applications employing floating point or vector computations. To keep processor cores most productive, Intel® Data Direct I/O Technology enables direct data transfers from storage to cache, instantly moving data to wherever it is needed and increasing I/O performance by up to 2.3 times7.

The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families derive more performance value from every watt using an enhanced Intel® Intelligent Power Technology8 for optimum balance between performance and energy consumption. And, the Intel® Data Center Manager plugs into existing management frameworks so that IT staff can monitor and manage power and thermal status for individual or multiple servers.

To reinforce security, Intel based its new server processors on a solid foundation of encryption standards, trusted resources and standards-based protocols for protecting systems and sensitive data on shared infrastructure. To extend security across the network without significantly compromising performance, Intel® Advanced Encryption Standard - New Instructions (Intel® AES-NI)9 accelerates and strengthens encryption to protect all users and assets.

The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families employ Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel® TXT)10 to establish trusted pools of resources so that computing environments are better able to protect themselves from malware or other attacks at or before launch.

5Intel® Turbo Boost Technology requires a platform with a processor with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology capability. Intel® Turbo Boost Technology performance varies depending on hardware, software and overall system configuration. Check with your platform manufacturer on whether your system delivers Intel® Turbo Boost Technology. For more information, see

6Source: The Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 product family supports Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX), which increases maximum vector size from 128 to 256 bits, so up to twice the work can be accomplished per clock cycle during floating point and vector operations versus the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series.

7Source: The claim of up to 2.3x I/O performance is based on Intel internal measurements comparing 1-socket SNB data for an L2 forwarding test using 8x10 GbE ports for the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 product family versus the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series.

8Intel® Intelligent Power Technology requires a computer system with an enabled Intel® processor, chipset, BIOS and for some features, an operating system enabled for it. Functionality or other benefits may vary depending on hardware implementation and may require a BIOS and/or operating system update. Please check with your system vendor for details.

9Intel® AES-NI requires a computer system with an AES-NI enabled processor, as well as non-Intel software to execute the instructions in the correct sequence. AES-NI is available on Intel® Core™ i5-600 desktop processor series, Intel® Core™ i7-600 mobile processor series, and Intel® Core™ i5-500 mobile processor series. For availability, consult your reseller or system manufacturer. For more information, see

10No computer system can provide absolute security under all conditions. Intel® Trusted Execution Technology is a security technology under development by Intel and requires for operation a computer system with Intel® Virtualization Technology, an Intel® Trusted Execution Technology-enabled processor, chipset, BIOS, Authenticated Code Modules, and an Intel or other compatible measured virtual machine monitor. In addition, Intel® Trusted Execution Technology requires the system to contain a TPMv1.2 as defined by the Trusted Computing Group and specific software for some uses. See for more information.

Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors. Performance tests, such as SYSmark and MobileMark, are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations and functions. Any change to any of those factors may cause the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases, including the performance of that product when combined with other products.

Performance tests and ratings are measured using specific computer systems and/or components and reflect the approximate performance of Intel products as measured by those tests. Any difference in system hardware or software design or configuration may affect actual performance. Buyers should consult other sources of information to evaluate the performance of systems or components they are considering purchasing.
