United Kingdom's 504-Megawatt Offshore Windfarm Contracts Fluor and Siemens, an Industrial Info News Alert

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA--(Marketwire - May 20, 2008) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- When the Greater Gabbard offshore windfarm is completed in 2011, it will be the largest of its type in the world and the first United Kingdom windfarm to be built outside of the country's territorial waters. The 504-megawatt (MW) wind-power project has been developed by Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR) (Irving, Texas) and Airtricity (acquired by Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) in February 2008). Fluor has agreed to sell its 50% stake in the joint venture to SSE for about $80 million.
