United States Joint Forces Command Joint Futures Lab Selects AirWave Wireless to Protect Its Wi-Fi Network From Outside Intrusion

Airwave Management Platform™ Plays Crucial Role in Enabling USJFCOM JFL Users to Securely Access Mission-Critical Wi-Fi Applications

SAN MATEO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 8, 2005 -- AirWave Wireless, a leader in Wi-Fi management and security, today announced that its flagship product, AirWave Management Platform™ (AMP), has been selected by the United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) Joint Futures Lab (JFL) J9, to secure and manage their Wi-Fi network. Headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, the U.S. Joint Forces Command is one of nine unified commands in the Department of Defense and is responsible for transformation, experimentation, joint training, interoperability and force supply.

The USJFCOM Futures Lab's wireless network currently supports 400 users and is expected to grow to over 700 in the near future. Mission-critical applications such as Web search capabilities, email, text chat, collaboration software, VoIP, and streaming video are accessed by the users either through laptops or tablet PCs. The Command uses AirWave to add centralized configuration management and wireline monitoring to their multi-layered security approach for protecting their wireless network.

The Department of Defense appointed the U.S. Joint Forces Command as the transformation laboratory for the U.S. military. The USJFCOM develops concepts on how the military can better integrate their warfighting capabilities, and then tests these concepts through rigorous experimentation, educates military leaders, trains joint forces and makes recommendations.

AirWave has successfully secured the USJFCOM's Wi-Fi system through AirWave's unique, three-pronged approach to wireless network security:

-- Secure: Its Web-based, UI software platform enables the network
administrator to centrally define and deploy security policies across the
various access points located on the network.

-- Scan: Enables the network administrator to ensure that the network is
always safe and protected by allowing them to continuously conduct security
    configuration audits and scans.

-- Detect: Automatically detects unauthorized network devices that could
be used by intruders to access the secure network. The software's RAPIDS™
module enables network administrators to discover any unauthorized 'rogue'
access points from the wired side of the network alone or in combination
    with RF scans.

"We feel extremely honored to have been selected by the United States Joint Forces Command for this critical role in securing their wireless network," said Gary Hegna, president and CEO of AirWave Wireless. "Organizations like the USJFCOM cannot assume that potential intruders will attack the network at a location that is within RF range of a wireless sensor. It is therefore imperative that both wireless and wireline detection techniques are used to safeguard the network. Our software provides organizations with the peace of mind that their entire network is protected."
