Unite's reaction to Knight Vinke's allegations of HSBC's board allegedly "misleading" shareholders

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2007) - Unite's reaction to Knight Vinke's allegations of HSBC's board allegedly "misleading" shareholders

Unite national officer John Nolan says,
"While arguments rage over bonuses worth millions for just five people. Unite will be putting forward it's reasonable demand for an above inflation pay increase for 39,000 members of staff at HSBC in 2008.

The union has to fight tooth and nail just to get pay increases in line with inflation. In 2005 many staff were forced to take strike action just to get a pay increase above zero percent.

In the union's most recent pay survey at HSBC almost 70% of staff surveyed felt their bonus scheme failed to motivate them."
