Unity Business Networks Expands Its Use of the Carrier Access Adit Series for Their Hosted Trunk Service Offering

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - June 5, 2007) - Carrier Access Corporation (NASDAQ: CACS), a leading provider of wireless and converged access solutions, today announced that Unity Business Networks has chosen the Adit® 3500 platform to support service creation and revenue growth for Unity's expanding customer base. With the selection of the Adit 3500 for hosted Trunk Services, Unity Business Networks now deploys the complete Adit portfolio, which includes the Adit 3104, Adit 3500 and Adit 600. Based on next generation network processor, hardware acceleration and DSP technologies, the Adit portfolio provides Unity Business Networks with the flexibility, scalability and performance needed to deploy a range of service offerings that supports their customer's evolving bandwidth and application requirements.

"With the recent selection of the Adit 3500, we are able to offer hosted trunk services to small and medium business, as well as enterprise and government clients who wish to preserve their PBX investment, while migrating to a Converged IP service offering," said Bob Paulsen, president of Unity Business Networks. "The carrier class design and comprehensive management features of the Adit portfolio provides us a total cost of ownership competitive advantage, while continuing our industry leading tradition of offering the highest quality services in the country."

"With millions of minutes of IP voice traffic every month," continued Mr. Paulson, "Unity selected Carrier Access after hundreds of hours of performance testing to ensure our clients experience the reliability that has become the Unity trademark."

Unity bundles core communications services to business clients and provides them in a clearly superior way. These services are sold and managed exclusively by Unity, and delivered via dedicated yet dynamic IP-based T1 circuits connecting each client site to Unity's own market gateways, ensuring exceptional reliability and service quality. Unity's approach enables clients to gain access to the latest technologies without making significant equipment investments, while reducing monthly expenses for phone and Internet services in the process.

"We are pleased that Unity Business Networks has selected the Adit portfolio of solutions for their hosted service offering needs," said Roger Koenig, chief executive officer and president for Carrier Access. "We believe Unity recognized that our Adit solutions deliver capabilities to optimize their business offerings. Adit CPE products enable lower operating costs and higher service revenues due to both functional integration and scalable growth."

The Adit 3500 consolidates multiple network elements at the customer premises by integrating routing, security and multi-T1 gateway functions into a single notebook-sized product. Configurable with 1 or 2 PRI and 1 or 2 T1 WAN interfaces, the Adit 3500 provides the scalability required to address the small-medium business and enterprise service delivery requirements, while providing Unity Business Networks the opportunity for average revenue per user (ARPU) growth with software-based features. Carrier class service reliability is assured with low power consumption, convection cooling, and an eight hour battery backup option. The platform is remotely configured, monitored, and upgraded to maximize service availability and drive down operating expense (OPEX) costs.
