Universal Lubricants Announces 2013 FFA Scholarship Recipient

Company Supports America's Future Engineers, Entrepreneurs and Agriculturalists With Annual $5,000 Scholarship Award

WICHITA, KS--(Marketwired - May 30, 2013) -   As high school graduates across the country move into the next chapters of their lives, Universal Lubricants, manufacturer and distributor of the high performance Eco Ultra® line of sustainable lubricants, is proud to support America's future engineers, entrepreneurs and agriculturalists with an annual FFA scholarship award.

The company announced today that the 2013 recipient of its $5,000 FFA scholarship is Anissa Zagonel of Girard, Kansas, who ranked first in her 2013 Girard High School graduating class and plans to major in agricultural business management at Kansas State University.

"We are proud to support the work of FFA and our scholarship winner Anissa Zagonel," said John Wesley, chief executive officer of Universal Lubricants. "Making sustainability a priority in agribusiness will produce common-sense solutions that blend productivity with environmental sensitivity. We all stand to benefit."

Founded just one year apart, Future Farmers of America (1928) and Universal Lubricants (1929) have evolved through the generations to meet the challenges of supporting the growing American population. The FFA was renamed The National FFA Organization in 1988 to reflect the growing diversity of agriculture and today the organization focuses on developing future professionals in a broad range of career pathways. Universal Lubricants, a leader in renewable energy solutions, has evolved as well and now is a champion of the zero waste movement.

The company's infinitely repeatable closed loop cycle has made it the darling of environmentally conscious consumers by turning a previously non-renewable resource -- used motor oil -- into a renewable one through its re-refining process. Leading into the July 4th holiday, Universal Lubricants is running a national "Great American Oil Change for Good!" Facebook sweepstakes www.facebook.com/ecoultraoil to encourage Americans to take a stand against foreign oil and spread the word on the role sustainable motor oil has in protecting the environment.
