Universidad de Los Andes Implements Modern IT Architecture With IBM

SANTIAGO, CHILE--(Marketwire - October 13, 2008) - Aiming to be the technological vanguard university in Chile, Universidad de Los Andes signed an important contract with IBM Chile (NYSE: IBM) on September 24, 2008.

The agreement involves a complete data center implementation that will provide availability and strength, combined with infrastructure computational systems for a SAP platform and legacy applications, as well as the administration and support of the university's communication system.

After a complete market study, the university selected IBM Chile. This contract will establish a five-year relationship between both institutions with the opportunity of extending services in the future.

"The Universidad de Los Andes has entrusted IBM with a great responsibility," commented Luis Siles, country manager of IBM Chile. "The technology infrastructure that IBM will install will provide a highly available, stable and strong environment, which is important for the university, especially for tasks such as the student admission process."

IBM Chile was selected for this important agreement because its proposal was aligned to the university's needs regarding timing, flexibility, support and quality of technological outsourcing service.
