University of Calgary: Federal Minister of Transport to discuss future of transportation in Canada

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 25, 2012) - The School of Public Policy and The Van Horne Institute invite media to a luncheon featuring the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, as he delivers his first major speech in Calgary.

Surface, rail and air transport are the lifeblood of a modern economy - especially one that is based on the movement of goods and raw resources. Canada's vast distances are a difficult enough barrier in themselves - any public policy that snarls transport will slow the economy. Minister Lebel will speak to the future of Canada's federal transportation policies, and how Canada can keep its economy on the move.

WHERE: The Fairmont Palliser
Crystal Ballroom
133 9th Avenue S.W.
Calgary, Alberta
WHEN: Thursday, January 26, 2012 - Program beginning at Noon
