University of Advancing Technology (UAT) Invites Third-Party Comment

TEMPE, AZ--(Marketwire - November 14, 2008) - The University of Advancing Technology (UAT) is seeking comments from its external constituents in preparation for a site evaluation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The University, currently a candidate, will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit February 23-25, 2009, by a team representing The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The team will review the institution's ability to meet the Commission's Criteria for Accreditation.

UAT currently holds accreditation with the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). This accreditation extends to the Master's level and includes degrees online.

The Higher Learning Commission is one of six accrediting agencies in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis. The Commission accredits approximately 1,100 institutions of higher education in a nineteen-state region. The Commission is recognized by the US Department of Education.

For the past year and a half, UAT has been engaged in a process of self-study, addressing the Commission's requirements and criteria for accreditation. The evaluation team will visit the institution to gather evidence that the self-study is thorough and accurate.

The public is invited to submit comments regarding the college:
