University of Calgary remembers Manmeet Bhullar

Tireless supporter was an advocate for the vulnerable and less fortunate

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - November 24, 2015) - It is with great sadness that we recognize the loss of Calgary-Greenway MLA Manmeet Bhullar. Our thoughts and hearts go out to his family and many friends as together we mourn his passing. We will be half-masting the Canadian flag on campus today to pay tribute to his legacy to our province.

Manmeet was a tremendous advocate for all people -- particularly the vulnerable and the less fortunate. He was an outstanding supporter of the University of Calgary throughout his years in public life, both as the former minister of Alberta Human Services and in his most recent role as MLA. He championed several government funding initiatives that supported Alberta families and he was ever-present during numerous occasions at the University of Calgary when research and initiatives were announced. In fact, he was on our campus yesterday to help announce the research results from the Alberta Men's Survey conducted through our Faculty of Social Work.

His tireless efforts to help others was a hallmark of his dedication and devotion to the people of Alberta. His vibrant spirit and compassionate devotion will always be remembered. We will miss him dearly.
