University of Louisville Wins the Cincom Spirit of Enterprise Grand Prize

CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) - The University of Louisville won 1st place at the seventh annual 2011 University of Cincinnati (UC) Spirit of Enterprise MBA Business Plan Competition, taking home the Cincom Systems ( $10,000 Champion Award and an automatic invitation to the 2011 Venture Labs Investment Competition (formerly Moot Corp) with over $100,000 in total prizes at stake. Ohio State University received first runner-up and Purdue University earned second runner-up.

The Spirit of Enterprise, hosted and sponsored by Cincom, is an invitational forum for next generation entrepreneurs to "road test" business-venture concepts -- ideas that may have a powerful effect on business and the world.

The winning team's (Jenny Corbin, Larry Horn, Terry Tate, Cory Long and Max Brudner) business plan, TNG Pharmaceuticals, has developed a new vaccine that will alleviate the negative impact of the horn fly, considered the most health depleting and economically damaging pest of the cattle population. FlyVax reduces the number of horn flies per cow, which leads to increased farmer efficiency, milk yield, beef production, lower pesticide use and lessens the spread of diseases.

The Ohio State University's team of Robert Rushenberg and Samit Gupta developed a patented, platform medical technology called O2 Insights, Inc., which will provide an accurate, simple and effective assessment of a chronic wound. This will standardize wound assessment and patient triage improving patient outcomes, reduce costs and generate reimbursed profits.

Purdue University's team of Sean Connell, Robert Einterz and Jianming Li developed a technology with a unique method of destroying bacteria for the prevention and treatment of infected wounds. It offers three competitive advantages: effectiveness against a wide array of bacteria, promotes healing, and a low-cost solution in a high-priced field.

Brigham Young University won the Limo/Taxi Ride Competition. Mirroring a chance encounter with a potential angel investor, teams must try to sell their business plan's viability within 10 minutes on the road.
