University of Southern California Pharmacy Selects TCGRx Beacon® Inventory Management System

POWERS LAKE, WI--(Marketwire - Oct 18, 2012) - University of Southern California (USC) will use TCGRx's Beacon® Inventory Management System to open their third on-campus pharmacy in January 2013. Beacon is designed using a unique storage and retrieval system that tracks prescriptions and inventory through the use of a barcode-validated process. USC's commitment to the safe and efficient delivery of prescriptions is supported by Beacon's innovative design that separates look-alike and sound-alike medications. Beacon's pick-to-light function directs the pharmacy staff to the specific location of an individual medication.

USC's Health Center Pharmacy will have unique challenges as student interns and employees rotate between the three USC pharmacies. Because Beacon is a software driven system, the pharmacy will be able to use standard procedures that are easy to learn. This convenience allows employees to be quickly trained to ensure patient safety and efficient prescription fulfillment.
