Continuing its tradition of naming products after inclement forms of weather, this latest addition to the Yuneec family is a hexa-copter suited to carry heavier payloads than the previous Typhoon quadcopter series. In particular, it can be paired with the separately-available GB603 3D Gimbal, which will stabilize a Panasonic GH4 camera.

B&H will offer the Tornado H920 as a ready-to-fly (RTF) combo. This means that a transmitter comes in the box, in this case, Yuneec's custom ST24 smart transmitter. Similar to the ST10 which is available with several Typhoon bundles, the ST24 combines traditional transmitter functionality with a 7" Android device. This integrated tablet enables it to serve as a handheld ground station. This means you can view a live feed from the camera, as well as access additional functions beyond basic flight controls. The ST24 features a control range of more than a mile, and a video range of up to 984'. Power is supplied by a built-in 8700mAh LiPo battery, and a charger is included.

The aforementioned GB603 gimbal works not only when attached to the H920, but handheld too. In handheld mode, you can simply clamp a smartphone to the top handle in lieu of a field monitor. This is very helpful, since the GH4's own LCD will be obscured by the back of the gimbal. The gimbal also includes a 5.8 GHz video transmitter for monitoring beyond the range of Wi-Fi, or for pairing with FPV goggles that have a 5.8 GHz receiver.
