UPDATE - Cyber Monday Hits Record-Breaking Highs for Major Retailers, HookLogic Finds

Search Commerce Leader Sees Traffic Soar

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 3, 2014) - Cyber Monday saw a surge in shopping searches on major retail sites, according to HookLogic, the commerce search advertising leader, which saw four billion shopping searches in November alone. HookLogic, whose Retail Search Exchange serves as a gateway for brands to promote their products on the sites of 20 of the Internet's top retailers, reports that product page views were up on Cyber Monday 5.5 times compared to the pre-holiday daily averageThis compares to Black Friday's increase of 4.8 times. HookLogic's network now reaches as many shoppers as Amazon, according to data from comScore (Sep 2014), and is expected to surpass it in early 2015.

During Cyber Monday, a work day for many, retail site traffic peaked during the 9 - 10pm EST timeframe. In comparison, Thanksgiving peaked from 9-10pm EST, and Black Friday traffic was highest from 11am-12pm. HookLogic observed a similar pattern in 2013.

HookLogic estimates that mobile web searches on smartphones had their highest day on Sunday, November 30, rising more than 25% above the pre-holiday average, indicating that travel delays and journeys back home, along with larger screen sizes, may have contributed to more shopping on phones.

"I am thrilled to see that so many of our advertisers and retail partners just went from a very big Black Friday to a record-breaking Cyber Monday -- the biggest online shopping day in history," said HookLogic CEO Jonathan Opdyke. "These two big days are great indicators for a very successful holiday season, and the momentum is immense."
