UPDATE: EO's Global Student Entrepreneur Awards Names Ohio State Student U.S. Champion


MIAMI, FL--(Marketwired - Mar 4, 2016) - The Idea Center at Miami Dade College -- Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) today announced that Peeyush Shrivastava, an Ohio State University student and CEO of Genetesis, has won the U.S. National Competition of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA), earning $10,000 and the title of U.S. Champion. Besting hundreds of competitors from local competitions nationwide, Peeyush will now go on to compete against student entrepreneurs from around the globe in Bangkok, Thailand, May 10-12, 2016. There he will vie to win $40,000 cash, $100,000 in in-kind services and the title of 2016 Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year.

Peeyush founded Genetesis with the goal of saving his grandfather from heart disease through computational math and two patent-pending technologies set for FDA approval this year. Peeyush worked with his father, Genetesis' CFO, to turn this dream into a reality for millions worldwide. A 2014 Thiel Finalist and recognized as one of the top innovators under age 20 in the world, Peeyush is also a Biomedical Science Scholar and University Innovation Fellow at The Ohio State University.

Second-place finalist Tyler Ebert, CEO and co-founder of AdrenaCard, started his business while attending The Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Tyler wowed the judges and scored $5,000 with his credit card-sized epinephrine auto-injector (EAI) to help patients with severe allergies. Third-place honors went to UNC Asheville student and Pro(TECH)T, LLC. CEO Madison Eddings who created a wearable technology to fight campus sexual assault, as 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted by the time they graduate college. Madison and her co-founder already took first place at the North Carolina Social Entrepreneurship Competition and will take home $2,500 today.

The top 5 finalists will also be given a one-year honorary membership to EO's Accelerator Program -- the catalyst that helps first-stage entrepreneurs to catapult their businesses to more than US$1 million in sales through unique learning and mentoring opportunities from the world's leading entrepreneurs.
