UPDATE - Grupo Gallegos, Alzheimer's Association Launch "The Unforgettable Collection" Awareness Campaign

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 13, 2014) - This week Grupo Gallegos, a creatively driven, independent advertising agency, and the Alzheimer's Association California Southland Chapter will launch the first photo collection dedicated to the fight against Alzheimer's -- a disease that affects more than 5 million Americans. The campaign, titled "The Unforgettable Collection," is launching in November to align with National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness month, which represents an opportunity to call attention to the disease and renew the commitment to progress against it.

Conceived by Grupo Gallegos, "The Unforgettable Collection" aims to raise awareness for improved Alzheimer's treatments and care by asking users to share a memory by donating a photo to the collection. In order to bring the campaign to life, Grupo Gallegos partnered with IMGembed, a pioneer platform for licensing online images. IMGembed will host the photo collection on a dedicated campaign landing page and the images will be incorporated for use within the site, creating an opportunity to raise additional funding for the organization.

"Alzheimer's disease affects more than 5 million Americans, which is why it's essential to raise awareness of the need for better treatments and ultimately a cure," says Jean Dickinson, vice president of communications & marketing at the Alzheimer's Association, California Southland Chapter. "The Unforgettable Collection allows people of all ages to get involved by donating a memorable photo. It's a simple way to show support and help bring Alzheimer's and dementia out of the shadows."

The campaign was inspired by the idea that memories define our lives and photos represent the most common way to relive our most cherished moments. Unfortunately, for those with Alzheimer's, an image's meaning is lost without the memory behind it. The campaign asks "What if you could make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's by simply uploading a photo?" The campaign tagline "Give a memory, save a memory" ties to the idea that by donating a photo and sharing with their social networks, users are not only preserving their memory within the photo collection but also raising awareness for the Alzheimer's Association California Southland Chapter's mission.

"'The Unforgettable Collection' is a revolutionary idea for an important cause, fighting Alzheimer's disease," said Marty Orzio, Chief Creative Officer at Grupo Gallegos. "By tying into the hugely popular activity of photo-sharing, we are hoping to leverage the millennial audience and turn their attention towards using their photos for a social benefit."

In addition to the overall significance of the month of November, "The Unforgettable Collection" is also launching on a Thursday to tie into the popular online hashtag #ThrowbackThursday. On Throwback Thursday or TBT, users post a TBT photo to their social media platforms and often share details of the memory associated with it. By launching on a Thursday, the campaign aims to engage this audience by asking them to donate their TBT to the cause. The campaign launches on Thursday, November 13th and will use digital and social media to drive traffic to the campaign landing page.
