UPDATE: Tallwave Kicks-off Global Entrepreneurship Week With High Tide for Healthcare IT Startup Competition and Innovation Search

Eleven Stellar Entrepreneurs Selected to Advance in Tallwave Program Designed to Strengthen Their Viability and Likelihood of Obtaining Seed Funding

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - Nov 19, 2013) - Joining participants across the entrepreneurship spectrum in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) November 18-24, Tallwave today announced the kick-off of its High Tide for Healthcare IT startup competition and innovation search. From a pool of over 110 applicants from across the country, 11 consumer and B2B healthcare entrepreneurs seeking to disrupt healthcare as we know it were selected by Tallwave and its world-class board of High Tide for Healthcare IT advisors to advance through the leading lean business competition.

GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. As a "commercializor" and venture development firm, Tallwave is known for its ability to build value for startups and help them grow rapidly, while minimizing risk for entrepreneurs and their investors.

Since first announcing its High Tide for Healthcare IT program, Tallwave has been in close discussions with global healthcare brands like Mayo Clinic, Humana and Phoenix Children's Hospital, and dedicated healthcare businesses inside companies like Citibank, GE and IBM, who are closely aligned with the program's goals of nurturing innovators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and solve real-world healthcare issues.

"Synchronizing our healthcare vertical High Tide program with industry advisors and supporters of healthcare IT innovation and job creation was a natural fit," said Donna Kent, senior vice president, Venture Development for Tallwave. "Tallwave's High Tide for Healthcare IT program has built a smart-and-targeted network with partners and investors whose interests are specifically focused in development of early stage healthcare IT companies. This program is our way of showcasing entrepreneurs in a critical industry during a time of year when global entrepreneurship is center stage."

The next generation of Healthcare technology companies was ushered in at a special event held November 15 at Kerr Cultural Center in Scottsdale, Arizona presented by NextCare Urgent Care. The event included a keynote speech by John Julian, CEO of Nextcare and Tallwave High Tide for Healthcare IT advisor, as well as remarks by the honorable Mayor W.J. "Jim" Lane of Scottsdale, Arizona. Like Tallwave's High Tide for Healthcare IT program, Scottsdale's recently announced Cure Corridor initiative seeks to drive more healthcare business development in the region that will drive economic growth and improve human welfare.
