Upper Allegheny Health System Protects Data With BridgeHead Software

Joint MEDITECH-BridgeHead Implementation Enables Consolidation of Four Different Backup Systems Onto Centralized, Easy-to-Manage BridgeHead Platform

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - May 30, 2013) -  MUSE Conference -- BridgeHead Software today announced that Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), which operates Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital in southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania, has implemented the BridgeHead Healthcare Data Management (HDM) platform with MEDITECH ISB (Integrated Serverless Backup) and IDR (Integrated Disaster Recovery) Backup for its EMR system, as well as protection for its enterprise data.

The UAHS deployment is a prime example of the collaborative, 12-year partnership between BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data and storage management, and MEDITECH. For more than a decade, BridgeHead Software has helped thousands of MEDITECH hospitals, across North America and around the world, to manage and protect their healthcare data.

UAHS chose to consolidate on the MEDITECH EMR for both its hospitals with BridgeHead MEDITECH ISB and IDR for backup. The ISB/IDR protocol is certified by MEDITECH as being critical for ensuring the recovery of accurate patient data, by orchestrating the protection of that data from multiple MEDITECH File Servers at a single point-in-time. Building on its MEDITECH protection, UAHS also implemented BridgeHead HDM to protect and recover enterprise data, including hospital financial and back office information. UAHS has seen significant benefits working with the BridgeHead HDM platform, documented in new case study. These include cost savings from unified backup systems, reduced administrative burden, and assured coherent data at time of recovery.

"We now only have to work with one data management platform for all of our hospital applications and data, supported by one company, rather than multiple," said Joseph Leo, UAHS system administrator. "That's a substantial benefit and time-saver. BridgeHead has provided excellent support and has always given us help when we needed it."

"BridgeHead Software and MEDITECH have a long tradition of working closely and leveraging our unique partnership, to help organizations like Upper Allegheny Health System adopt assured, coherent, streamlined data protection for their EMR and HIS," said Mike Ball, PhD, BridgeHead Software senior vice president, North America. "We are pleased that UAHS, along with thousands of other MEDITECH hospitals with whom we work, continue to extend our unique benefits to a broader set of healthcare applications in their environments."

BridgeHead Software is exhibiting at the MUSE conference, in booth 700. At MUSE, BridgeHead is presenting an education session on Disaster Recovery for MEDITECH environments, during which the critical benefits of the ISB/IDR protocol will be further discussed.
