Urban Communications Inc. Extends Its Fibre Optic Network on Trans-Canada Highway

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 18, 2007) - Urban Communications Inc. (TSX VENTURE:UBN) announces that it has entered into a long term duct access agreement with the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and has completed a 22 km. extension of its fibre optic network in Ministry ducts on Trans-Canada Highway 1 from Cassiar Street in Vancouver, across the Port Mann Bridge, to 160th Street in Surrey.

The network extension is provisioned with 36 strategic breakout points that provide wide access to the populated sectors of Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam and New Westminster. These breakout points were engineered into the network design in order to enable future extensions to those communities, facilitate significant capital cost savings and enable Urban to connect new customers more quickly and efficiently.

Urban has begun a roll out of fibre based broadband Internet and VoIP telephony services to multi-tenanted buildings served by its network and will add Video on Demand and IPTV services later this year. Completion of the Ministry of Transportation extension accelerates Urban's ability to deploy services to a broader concentration of customers.
