U.S. Africa Command Deploys AtHoc IWSAlerts to Protect Military Personnel Throughout Europe and Africa

AtHoc Continues International Expansion of Network-Centric Emergency Mass Notification

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 27, 2011) - AtHoc, Inc., the pioneer and leader in network-centric emergency mass notification systems, today announced that U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has deployed AtHoc IWSAlerts™ to serve as the network-centric alerting system for force protection of U.S. military personnel in Africa and U.S. Africa Command staff stationed in Europe. AtHoc IWSAlerts is deployed on-site at AFRICOM headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, integrating and unifying existing disparate mass notification capabilities and enabling the rapid notification to Internet Protocol-connected devices worldwide.

AtHoc's unified approach for mass notification systems enables AFRICOM to send emergency notifications to all networked computers, landline phones and mobile phones (telephone and text messaging), and e-mail. The AtHoc network-centric capability will provide personnel accountability via real-time response tracking reports for a command-wide view of the status and safety of all personnel during emergencies. AtHoc's unique capability to support many geographically separated units from a single consolidated data center (including failover capability at a remote data center) is key in this combatant command responsible for a vast geographic area. The result is the most effective enterprise-wide mass notification capability with the best cost-to-benefit ratio.

AtHoc's support for AFRICOM builds on the firm's recent global deployment for other major U.S. military commands. Today, the vast majority of Department of Defense (DoD) organizations have standardized on AtHoc IWSAlerts to fulfill their requirements for force protection, recall, critical communication and personnel accountability.

"After a lengthy competitive contracting process, AtHoc is both humbled and pleased to partner with AFRICOM in supporting their personnel on the African continent and at assigned units stationed in Europe," said (Ret.) Air Force Col. Andy Anderson, Vice President of Operations, Defense Sector for AtHoc. "Being selected to help enhance force protection for AFRICOM adds to our successes internationally and strengthens our partnership within the DoD, where AtHoc's technology is already deployed at hundreds of garrisons, camps and bases, protecting more than 1.5 million military personnel worldwide. We look forward to this deployment as it furthers our commitment to providing mass alerting solutions to U.S. military installations around the world, helping the military to be better prepared to meet its force protection and personnel accountability requirements."

AtHoc is the largest single provider of network-centric emergency mass notification solutions to the U.S. federal government, currently protecting more than 2 million personnel at more than a thousand locations worldwide. Facilities, installations, bases and commands throughout the world benefit from AtHoc's unified alerting approach, enterprise-wide architecture, security, reliability and ease of use.

AFRICOM was established in October 2007, and in concert with other U.S. government agencies and international partners, conducts sustained security engagement through military-to-military programs, military-sponsored activities and other military operations as directed to promote a stable and secure African environment in support of U.S. foreign policy.
