U.S. Air Force Selects Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite; COTS Lifecycle Software Used to Establish Technical Documentation Test Environment

PITTSBURGH--(CCNMatthews - Nov 3, 2005) -

Inmedius, Inc., a leading provider of technical documentation solutions for defense and military applications, announced today that the Development and Fielding Systems Group (DFSG/SBP) of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio has acquired multiple user licenses of Inmedius S1000DauthorPro™, S1000Dmanager™, and S1000Dinteract™ publishing software to establish an S1000D analysis and test environment.

The Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite met DFSG/SBP requirements to obtain a comprehensive Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) lifecycle software package in order to author, manage, test and display technical data in accordance with S1000D Issue 2 for purposes of analysis.

ASD S1000D is an international commercial specification for the procurement and production of technical publications. The most current release, Issue 2, was jointly produced by the Aerospace and Defense Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA). Inmedius is a member of the S1000D Electronic Publications Working Group.

"Inmedius has achieved a long-standing reputation for helping military organizations achieve new heights in documentation quality control and efficiency," said Gary Schaffer, President, Inmedius. "WPAFB is one of the nation's most important military installations, with nearly all major advances in aviation having their roots there. ASD S1000D holds tremendous promise for the future of aerospace technical documentation development; eliminating constraints of the print medium. The core S1000D principle of information chunking (data modules), produces information structured in ways that make it deliverable in a wide variety of electronic formats, as well as print. This philosophy of reuse is at the heart of the standard, leading to improved information accuracy and production efficiencies."
