U.S. Army Unveils New EchoStorm Technology at AAAA Conference

New Device Provides Mobile Situation Awareness on Demand

SUFFOLK, VA--(Marketwire - April 23, 2008) - The U.S. Army's Unmanned Aircraft Systems Project Office (UAS PO) demonstrated an innovative EchoStorm product named MDAR (Mobile Data Archive and Retrieval) at the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) Conference, April 6-9, in Washington, D.C. The UAS PO showcased MDAR and its other products and services at an exhibit space at the event.

MDAR is a new video solution that provides U.S. soldiers and Army tactical operation centers new mobility in processing data and high-resolution situational awareness video on demand.

The mobile device is designed to withstand the harshest of weather, and its unique shape was custom-designed to fit into existing U.S. Army One System® Ground Control Stations. MDAR was developed for the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and other ground forces to give soldiers in the field instant, searchable access to up to 30 days of archived data and full-motion video from a variety of unmanned aircraft vehicles -- such as Shadow®, Hunter™, Predator®, and others. Initial production units of MDAR will be installed in AAI Corporation's ground control stations that will be used by the Shadow UAS.

"The original challenge was to provide a mobile hardware-software solution that was intuitive, durable, input-friendly, and compatible with a wide variety of network formats," said Clark Kreston, EchoStorm's program manager for the MDAR project. "Our EchoStorm engineers, along with our partners, did an outstanding job by completing the project in less than a year."

MDAR includes EchoStorm's advanced adLib™ software for video and data management. "Many describe MDAR as a digital video recorder with highly-advanced capabilities," said Jason Barton, EchoStorm Co-Founder. "Users can improve the sharing and extraction of intelligence from video using many features including pausing or rewinding live and archived video, creating snapshots, tagging video for later retrieval, and easily reviewing previous videos of target locations."
