US BioTec Begins Field Testing of Product to Fight Asian Rust Disease in Soybean

GLEASON, TENNESSEE--(CCNMatthews - June 7, 2005) - US BioTec, Inc. (PINK SHEETS:USBO), an emerging player in the rapidly growing bio-chemical sector of the multi-billion dollar agri-business industry, today announced that through a joint venture with another biotech research organization, it has developed a non-toxic / non-carcinogenic compound that has produced positive laboratory results against pathogens similar to Asian Soybean Rust (phakopsora pachyrhizi). The product, which US BioTec hopes to bring to market in either this year or next, is projected to be marketed in a new pathogen repellent product category.

Following the very promising results from the companies' in-depth laboratory test, US BioTec will begin intensive field research of its all-natural Asian Rust product. The first applications on soybeans will begin in Georgia this week, with follow-up field tests being conducted in Tennessee in the coming weeks, weather permitting. The threat to the soybean crop in America is considered extremely severe, with confirmed cases of Asian Rust in multiple states already this year.

"I feel confident our research efforts will prevail to produce an effective bio-chemical product for use on "Asian Rust", predicts "Jimmy Joyner CEO of US BioTec". "It is only a matter of time until we find a combination of microbes, enzymes, etc. that will effectively combat the Asian Rust pathogen, and I say this because even our initial formulations have been fairly effective".

Asian Rust is a serious foliage disease that has the potential to cause significant soybean yield losses. Although Asian soybean rust was first reported in the Eastern Hemisphere in the early 1900s, it only made its way to the United States in the past 15 years. Cases of the disease have since been reported throughout the South as well as far into the Northern soybean growing regions of the U.S. In areas where soybean rust is established, crop losses can range from 10 percent to 80 percent.

All of US BioTec's products are non-toxic, non-carcinogenic and bio-degradable alternatives to the toxic and sometimes carcinogenic agrichemicals that have been widely used by farmers for decades. The agrichemical market, which is measured in the tens of billions of dollars annually, is controlled primarily by a handful of large multi-national corporations such as DuPont (NYSE: DD), Syngenta (NYSE:SYT), Bayer (NYSE:BAY), BASF (NYSE:BF), Dow Chemical (NYSE:DOW) and Monsanto (NYSE:MON).

US BioTec believes that it may experience an unanticipated windfall because of the growing "Asian Rust" disease problem. Combating this costly pathogen problem could generate huge additional sales potential for USBO products for years to come. The USDA projects that approximately 70 million acres of soybeans will be planted in the U.S. this year, much of which will likely require treatment for Asian Rust.

"We are now beginning to ship our first bio-chemical products to our customers for the 2005 growing season. We anticipate solid sales this year and are quite confident that demand for these and each new product line will continue to grow year after year as more and more farmers realize that US BioTec's products may allow them to grow healthier crops, and enhance their profits due to decreased chemical costs and increased crop yields. The first real revenue from the products we're releasing now should be reflected in the third and forth quarters of this year" says Jimmy Joyner CEO of US BioTec, Inc.
