US Foods Helps Reno Families Have a Happy, Healthy Holiday

ROSEMONT, IL--(Marketwire - Dec 9, 2011) - Today, US Foods donated five barrels of food, including more than 100 turkeys, and a $2,000 check to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. The 132 employees of the Reno Division have been collecting food for the past month. The money will help ensure that critical funds are available to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to continue fulfilling its mission to end hunger through direct services, advocacy, outreach and education.

"With high unemployment and a difficult economic environment, it's more important than ever to help people in need by providing good, nutritious food."

The Northern Nevada Food Bank serves the poor and hungry in the Northern Nevada and California Sierra area. Last year, the food bank distributed over 8.1 million pounds of food to more than 153,000 low-income seniors, children and families.
