U.S. House Passes Bill to Shorten Mine Permit Process, but Future Uncertain in Senate, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - Jul 13, 2012) - Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The U.S. House of Representatives voted Thursday to cap at 30 months the amount of time given to federal agencies to decide on mine permit applications. In a 256-160 vote, with 15 members not voting, the House approved H.R. 4402, the National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act of 2012. But the bill faces an uncertain future, as there is no companion bill in the Senate yet.
