U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Warren Spector to Keynote Game On! Texas 2011

AMD's Second Annual Symposium Will Convene Educators, Policymakers, and Industry and Community Leaders to Build Upon Texas' Digital Media Education Programs


AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - February 16, 2011) - AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Warren Spector, Creative Director and GM of Disney Interactive Studios' Junction Point, will keynote the second annual Game On! Texas symposium.

Game on! Texas brings together educators, industry, policy and community leaders to discuss challenges and solutions for improving Texas' existing digital media education programs, and highlights how local educators are using game development to interest kids in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). At the 2010 event, more than 200 attendees provided an overview of current game development education programs, and discussed the best models for how to integrate game development more fully into state curricula.

The 2011 symposium will feature the honorable Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who will talk about her iCivics game-based learning platform, and Warren Spector, an Austin game developer who headed up the production of "Disney Epic Mickey" for the Wii console from Nintendo. Additionally, the event will showcase a host of other speakers on the growing intersection between digital games and education.
