U.S. Wind Energy Industry Under Way With 4,400 Megawatts of New Wind Power Construction -- More on the Way, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - May 5, 2009) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- If registration at the world's largest exhibition of wind power technology is any indication, the wind energy industry is set to continue explosive growth for the foreseeable future. Attendance is expected to be up 50% at the WINDPOWER 2009 Conference & Exhibition taking place May 4-7, 2009, at the McCormick Center in Chicago, Illinois. Last year's 1,000 exhibitors and 13,000 attendees have been surpassed by this year's 1,400 exhibitors and 18,224 registered attendees. Actual attendance is expected to exceed 20,000, according to a representative of event sponsor American Wind Energy Association.

According to Shane Mullins, Industrial Info's Vice President for Product Development, "There is currently 4,400 megawatts of new wind power generation under construction in the U.S." This is only the tip of the iceberg as an additional 94,000 megawatts (MW) are under development and scheduled to begin construction over the next decade. If all of these windfarms are constructed, it would represent a tripling of the number of operational wind towers in the U.S.

All of these windfarms are identified on Industrial Info's recently released United States Wind Turbine Power Generation Industry Wall Map - 3rd Edition. The map provides a detailed view of the 389 windfarms in operation today, representing 27,144 MW of capacity, along with more than 99,000 MW in future development represented by 569 windfarms in the early planning and advanced development stages. There are also 46 windfarms under construction.

Industrial Info will be showcasing the United States Wind Turbine Power Generation Industry Wall Map - 3rd Edition as well as demonstrating improvements to PowerTracker online industrial database at Booth #2922.
