USA Signal Technology Demonstrates to Louisiana Department of Transportation the Intelligent Features of the ITIS (Intelligent Traffic Intersection System) and Particularly the Self-Kill Feature in the LED (Light Emitting Diode) Traffic Signals

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - August 23, 2007) - USA Signal Technology, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: USST) (www.usasignal.com) has demonstrated to the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (LADOTD) the capabilities of its proprietary ITIS (Intelligent Traffic Intersection System). The LADOTD had requested that USA Signal demonstrate the features of the ITIS system and particularly the self-kill feature, which allows the signal to turn itself off after it has determined that it no longer meets the minimum light output per the ITE (Institute of Traffic Engineers) specifications.

USA Signal LED traffic signals fully comply with all of the requirements of the LADOTD. The specifications for qualification in the state of Louisiana require that an LED traffic signal turn itself off when the minimum light output is no longer met. USA Signal's micro-controlled traffic signals are programmed to analyze the light output every time they are turned on. Through the use of complex algorithms and truth tables, they monitor their own performance and when the signals ascertain that they no longer meet the minimum ITE light output they turn themselves off.

When installed as part of the USA Signal ITIS, the traffic signals send a message of their condition to the local maintenance facility before turning themselves off. Additionally, status updates can also be regularly sent to the maintenance department of the operational condition of all of LED traffic signals, allowing a more cost effective scheduling of maintenance personnel.

"Many jurisdictions have waived the enforcement of this requirement in the past because the standard LED signals available in the market could not perform this task," said Bob Stevenson, USA Signal's president and CEO. "By using intelligent signals, however, our traffic lights are able to comply with all requirements, without the need for waivers, thus improving public safety and lowering maintenance costs for the municipalities."

USA Signal is currently responding to requests for proposals for traffic signals with LADOTD with the potential for annual contracts for fulfillment of orders throughout the state.
