Use of Collaboration Services in Asia Pacific Region to Triple in Next Five Years

A New Study From Wainhouse Research Forecasts Strong Interest & Adoption in Six Regions

DUXBURY, MA--(Marketwire - September 18, 2007) - Wainhouse Research's latest study on the Asia Pacific Collaboration Services Market forecasts that audio conferencing usage will triple from 2.2 billion minutes in 2006 to 6.5 billion in 2011. Demand for web (data) conferencing services will see similar growth -- more than tripling in revenue from 2006 to 2011. While video conferencing usage is forecast to grow steadily, the demand for hosted video bridging services has flattened as users bring video bridges in-house. The total size of the audio, web, and video conferencing services market in 2006 was $350 million.

The study includes the six local markets of Australia & New Zealand Country Group, Japan, China Country Group, South East Asia Country Group, India, and Korea. 43 local and pan-Asian service providers were reviewed for the study.

Data from this study provides service providers and technology vendors with the current state of the local Asia Pacific markets, assesses current trends, identifies risks and opportunities, and provides assistance on market approaches, services, and prices. Some of the key findings of the study were:

-- China, Southeast Asia, and India each grew revenues over 30% in the
    last year (2006)
-- Total Asia Pacific audio minutes grew 30% in the last year (2006)
-- Of those end users surveyed, 67% claimed daily or weekly use of
conferencing services - indicating an increasing preference in the Asian
market to use online collaboration services
