Usinage SM Inaugurates New Facilities in Saguenay

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, hails today's inauguration of the new facilities of Usinage SM, a Saguenay firm that expanded its plant and received financial assistance from Canada Economic Development for the acquisition of new equipment to increase its production capabilities.

• Usinage SM specializes in the manufacture and reconditioning of metal equipment parts. Since 2006, the company has developed expertise in the restoration of aluminium wheels for heavy trucks.
• The enterprise was granted $87,500 in repayable financial assistance through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program for its equipment acquisition project, which necessitated an overall investment of $210,000. With the expansion of the plant, a total of $400,000 has been invested to improve the facilities inaugurated today.
• The acquisition of a digital lathe, washer, welding machine, industrial fan, transformer, press and handling rack will enable Usinage SM to increase its capacity for reconditioning aluminium wheel rims for heavy trucks and thereby improve its production.
