USO Northwest 'Red, White & Blue Golf Classic' Raises $300,000 for Local Military Services

Annual Golf Tournament, Dinner and Auction Attracts 430 Attendees, Sports Legends and Over 100 Corporate and Individual Donors; Air Force Team From Joint Base Lewis-McChord Wins Prestigious USO Military Cup

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - May 24, 2013) -  USO Northwest today announced results from the 18th Annual 'Red, White & Blue Golf Classic,' held Tuesday, May 21 at The Golf Club at Newcastle. The annual golf tournament, dinner and auction attracted more than 430 golfers and attendees, and raised more than $300,000 in support of local military, military families and veterans. Funds will help support USONW operations at Sea-Tac Airport, Joint Base Lewis-McChord and across the Northwest with the USO Mobile Canteen RV.

An Air Force golf team consisting of four service members stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Randall Morris, former running back for the Seattle Seahawks, won the prestigious USO Northwest Military Cup and will compete in the Boeing Classic: Seahawks Rumble at the Ridge, August 19, at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. The Air Force team, including Col. R. Wyn Elder, Commander, 62nd Airlift Wing, Lt. Col.John Scacciotti, Tech Sgt. Erik Bush and Tech Sgt. Mark Robertson, shot a score of 59 across 18 holes to beat out military teams representing the other four service branches, and an 'All-Services' team with players from each branch of the service. Among sponsored teams, Contec Technologies scored 57 for third place, Pinnacle Family of Companies scored 54 for second place, and Goodman Real Estate scored 52 for first place.

Opening ceremony festivities included a luncheon, World War II-era military display, the presentation of the colors by the Todd Beamer High School Air Force JROTC cadets, music from the Todd Beamer High School Wind Ensemble, an 18-gun salute from the U.S. Marines of the 4th Landing Support Battalion at JBLM, and a putting contest.
