ALISO VIEJO, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 12, 2012) - UST Global®, a leading provider of IT services and solutions for Global 1000 and Fortune 500 enterprises, today announced that "Transforming Lives Through Education," its entry into the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship 2012 Film Festival, has been voted one of ten finalists in the competition.

The winner will be announced on March 26th at the Center's 2012 International Corporate Citizenship Conference at the Sheraton Phoenix Hotel.

The Center for Corporate Citizenship's annual Film Festival provides companies with an opportunity to demonstrate how they have utilized video as a communication tool. Other companies that were named finalists in the competition are Bright Horizons, Caterpillar, CSX, Cummins, Dow Chemical, FedEx, HP, Humana and Mary Kay.

"Being selected one of the 10 best videos is very humbling because there were so many meaningful videos with wonderful messages in support of worthy causes," noted Mary Johnson, Director, Corporate Social Responsibility for UST Global. "Our thanks and appreciation go to the entire corporate communications team, as well as numerous others who generously gave of their time, effort and talent in this amazing collaboration."

"Transforming Lives Through Education" recounts UST Global's long-time efforts in support of educating the more than 100 million children in India who cannot read or write. The company has determined that providing education is the best way to have a lasting, positive impact on both these young lives and on the nation itself.

Through its established relationships with numerous schools in southern India, as well as with other philanthropic organizations, the company has taken a holistic approach to the goal of giving each inquisitive young mind an education.

To accomplish this, UST Global employees visit schools regularly to serve as role models, to mentor the students and to encourage them to stay in school. The children are also taught about "green living" and how they can contribute to sustaining nature. By also including a focus on each child's cultural enrichment and nutritional development, UST Global works to educate and inspire the whole child.

The Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship offers a broad and objective perspective on the role of business in the 21st century. The Center helps companies put theory and best practice to work by creating a mix of frameworks, case studies, benchmarking, and networking opportunities that help a company integrate corporate citizenship into its business strategy.
