UW Health Partners Watertown Regional Medical Center Chooses GetWellNetwork as Interactive Patient Care (IPC) Provider

Patients at Watertown Regional Medical Center (WRMC) to Benefit From Personalized In-Room Technology That Provides Interactive Patient Entertainment and Treatment Education During the Hospital Stay

BETHESDA, MD and WATERTOWN, WI--(Marketwire - Aug 2, 2011) - GetWellNetwork, Inc., provider of the industry's leading interactive patient care (IPC) solution, and UW Health Partners Watertown Regional Medical Center (WRMC) today announced that the GetWellNetwork solution will be installed at WRMC. A MOST WIRED hospital serving south-central Wisconsin and a partner of UW Health, WRMC is implementing GetWellNetwork's IPC solution to improve the patient experience through increased engagement and education.

"The GetWellNetwork Solution is known for being a key educational tool with a vast amount of specific condition and medication information available, but it is also a great source of entertainment for patients, providing access to features including the latest Hollywood movies," said Jennifer Laughlin, MBA, RHIA, vice president, chief information officer and privacy officer, WRMC. "The ease of use for patients of all ages and technology skill levels, along with the ability to individually personalize it, make it an invaluable tool that we are proud to introduce to patients receiving care at our facility."

The GetWellNetwork Solution will be installed in all patient rooms, offering unique benefits to patients of all ages with education and entertainment options selected by them and their caregivers. Ten rooms will also have the GetWell Town solution installed. GetWell Town offers exclusive KidsHealth® content with more than 170 videos of specific conditions and medical procedures -- all in child-friendly language. This pediatric-specific offering can be personalized to the patients' condition, and will eventually include specific Patient Pathways for asthma care and discharge planning two important areas for young patients and their families.

"It has been a pleasure and honor for GetWellNetwork to work with Watertown Regional Medical Center -- a nationally recognized facility -- to help improve their overall level of patient engagement," said Michael O'Neil, founder and CEO, GetWellNetwork, Inc. "As WRMC enhances its patient experience standard within the health network, that includes the American Family Children's Hospital at Watertown Regional Medical Center, we look forward to celebrating their continued success."

WRMC and GetWellNetwork share the goal of improving the patient experience to provide the best possible care during treatment. Success will be measured through immediate patient feedback based on Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores in education as well as reduction in length of stay.

"We believe that the overall patient experience will be improved with increased engagement and ease of interaction with the GetWellNetwork," said Jacklynn Lesniak, RN, MS, Chief Nursing Officer, WRMC. "Whether the patient is looking for entertainment, or customized education geared towards their condition, what they need is now literally at their fingertips with GetWellNetwork. The entire nursing staff is looking forward to gaining more individual time with our patients than ever before as well as collecting real-time feedback -- direct from patients -- on their individual experiences with the level of care we're providing and how we may further improve."
