UW Medicine Valley Medical Center Selects Skylight Interactive™ to Engage Patients Inside and Outside the Hospital

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - January 15, 2015) - Skylight® Healthcare Systems, developer of the industry's most comprehensive patient engagement platform, today announced that UW Medicine's Valley Medical Center has selected Skylight Healthcare's interactive patient engagement platform, Skylight Interactive™, to drive patient engagement, streamline clinical workflows, and enhance the patient experience before, during and after hospitalization. Located in Renton, Wash., Valley Medical Center (VMC) provides safe, quality and compassionate care more than 600,000 residents in South King County.

"Skylight's comprehensive platform and ease of use made it the most appealing patient engagement technology for us," said Pamela Smith, PhD, RN, director of nursing development and informatics at Valley Medical Center. "Not only do we want to provide an optimal inpatient experience, but engaging patients outside of the hospital with a platform that allows them access to essential education throughout their entire care continuum is essential in today's health care environment. With the Skylight Interactive platform, we will be able to provide our patients access to their care plan, especially in key service lines such as orthopedics and labor and delivery."

Skylight Interactive connects Valley Medical Center with patients and their families before, during and after hospitalization. The platform delivers education and information essential for healing, informed decision making and patient involvement. Using common communication devices to facilitate and automate elements of communication during a care episode, Valley Medical Center is able to empower patients and realize better outcomes.

Because Skylight Interactive shares information with VMC's existing electronic medical record (EMR) and MyChart, the hospital can streamline the patient experience and the clinical workflow. Valley Medical Center joins some of the nation's leading specialty, acute care, and academic hospitals using Skylight Interactive to improve the patient experience, processes and outcomes.
