VA Great Lakes Healthcare System Seeks Sources for Laser Equipment and Technician Services


MILWAUKEE, WI--(Marketwired - October 10, 2016) - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Great Lakes Healthcare System released on Tuesday, October 4 a sources sought notice in which it outlined plans to procure laser equipment and technician services.

The VA physician will perform the procedures in the Operating Room (OR) at the William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital (Madison VAH), located at 2500 Overlook Terrace, Madison, WI 53705.

Offerors interested in this opportunity must be able to provide the following laser equipment:

  • CO2 Omni Guide
  • CO2 Direct Line of Site
  • Green Light
  • KTP laser equipment, including all accessories and fibers

The offeror also must be able to provide qualified laser technician services during scheduled laser treatments, in case of any laser equipment or accessory malfunctions.

All equipment, including the laser, accessories, and fibers shall be in optimum operating condition. The Madison VAH requires all equipment to be sterilized before performing any laser treatments. The vendor must inform the OR Business Manager of any items that need to be sterilized and must provide any accessories requiring sterilization to the Madison VAH Sterile Processing Service (SPS) a minimum of 24 hours prior to the treatment.

The Madison VAH Operating Room (OR) staff will notify the contractor at least 48 hours in advance of treatment needing services. Laser services will only be required Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No services will be required after normal business hours, weekends or holidays.

The laser technician shall check-in with the OR Business Manager or the OR front desk upon arrival. All laser equipment along with maintenance data shall be present at OR control station a minimum of 1 hour prior to the scheduled procedure for pre-testing of the equipment by the Madison VAH Biomedical Engineering Department.

If the vendor owned equipment fails the pre-test, Madison VAH is not obligated to reimburse the vendor for that treatment. The vendor is responsible for equipment removal after treatment.

This procurement falls under NAICS code 621999 - All Other Miscellaneous Ambulatory Care Services, and has a small business size standard of $15 million.

The resultant contract will be a Firm-Fixed (unit) Price, Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract with a five-year ordering period from the date of award.

Responses must include a brief company overview, description/identification of the type of equipment used to meet the requirements above, the vendor's DUNS number and socioeconomic classification, and pricing information for each type of laser rental.

Responses are due by no later than October 14, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. CT, and must be sent via email to Contract Specialist Darryl Scherer at Darryl.scherer@va.gov.

To receive the contract, contractors must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) database, and have as part of the Registration all current Representations and Certifications.
