VA Software Unveils SourceForge® On Demand, Timex as First Customer

Hosted Service Delivers Collaborative Development Capabilities for Small Development Teams

FREMONT, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 5, 2005 -- VA Software Corporation (NASDAQ: LNUX), the leading provider of software, information and community support for IT and development professionals, today launched SourceForge On Demand. The new service is a hosted version of SourceForge Enterprise Edition, a secure, centralized solution for optimizing distributed development, and is available on a project-basis for development teams or workgroups in any size organization. Companies like TIMEX Corporation are already benefiting from the immediate deployment and instantaneous project access enabled by VA Software's hosted offering.

SourceForge On Demand brings VA Software's enterprise-grade collaborative development platform to customers looking for software as a service, a market IT analyst firm IDC estimated as $4.2 billion in 2004 and forecasted to grow to $10.7 billion by 2009.* The collaborative development phenomenon, epitomized by large-scale, worldwide Open Source software development occurring on SourceForge.net®, has now been extended to development teams or workgroups looking to rapidly deploy a collaborative development environment for their private projects. Today, 77 percent of SourceForge.net users are comprised of IT professionals. SourceForge.net is the world's nexus for open source development projects, with over 1.1 million registered users and over 107,000 open source projects.

"Our experience hosting a collaborative development project on SourceForge.net led us to SourceForge On Demand," said Rick Ciervo of TIMEX Corporation. "We wanted to bring that same development environment within our corporate infrastructure to help consolidate project artifacts and coordinate widely distributed teams. The ease-of-use and rapid implementation make SourceForge On Demand extremely attractive for small-scale collaborative development software projects."

"We continue to allocate significant resources to improve our SourceForge product family, allowing us to meet the growing demand for innovative collaborative development environments," said Darryll Dewan, group president, SourceForge Enterprise Software. "SourceForge On Demand was created in response to customer requests for SourceForge Enterprise Edition capabilities for small teams who require rapid deployment."

SourceForge On Demand is priced at US$50 per user on a monthly subscription. Additional projects can be purchased for US$100. VA Software is offering a 30-day free trial for qualified users.
