VAC Firm Refutes Allergy Report

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 17, 2008) - Ewbank, the makers of the UK's first anti-bacterial vacuum, which uses brand new UV-C technology to help eradicate the millions of house dust mites that live in the average Brits bed, is strongly refuting a report that says people are wasting money on products that claim to help with allergy avoidance.

Raycop, recently launched in the UK market, incorporates a UV-C sterilising lamp and has been designed specifically for use on beds and soft furnishings. The product has been subjected to a number of stringent independent tests by leading scientists in the UK who have praised its effectiveness in alleviating the symptoms of asthma. It has already attracted Allergy UK's coveted British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval.

The company's UK director of marketing, Steve Derbyshire commented, "Allergy UK has refuted today's media reports and we wholeheartedly support its position. However, while vacuum cleaners, bedding products and air cleaners all help to improve the symptoms of allergy sufferers, Raycop goes one stage further by incorporating the latest UV-C technology to actually help to eradicate the problem of dust mites, kill their bacteria and improve the environment for sufferers."

The process involves treatment with a UV-C sterilising lamp, which kills the bacteria and helps eradicate the dust mites. There's also a vibrating pad feature that agitates the surface, releasing the dust mites that are hooked within it; and finally a vacuum with a two stage Micro Allergy Filtration system that efficiently removes the dust mites and their faeces and prevents the allergens being released back into the atmosphere.

For ease of use, the Raycop has been specially designed to glide smoothly over the surface, with an innovative feature that stops it sucking the fabric into the unit as a regular cleaner would.

The Raycop can be used on all beds, cots and other soft furnishings. If cleaning an old bed, it should be used on a daily basis for the first week and then once a month. If using on a brand new bed, a monthly clean should keep dust mites at bay.

The Raycop is mains-powered and priced at Pounds Sterling 149. It is available online, along with further information, at www.raycop.co.uk and will shortly be available from Lakeland Stores nationally.
