To celebrate its grand opening as a Fairfield Inn & Suites property, this hotel near Moody Air Force Base hosted a murder mystery event to announce its debut and collect toys for kids in need.

The grand opening at this business hotel took place December 6, 2012, drawing nearly 100 guests for an evening of hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and murder mystery fun. The game saw the death of the hotel's old brand (Wingate), and an inspector set guests off to collect clues through posters and video testimonies from potential suspects (including one Mr. Fairfield) scattered around the property and in Valdosta hotel rooms. In the end, the hammer was the weapon of choice and a symbol of this property's reinvention.

Guests of this Valdosta event were asked to bring toys to donate to Project Light, a local philanthropic organization. Toys were donated to 30 kids, who would otherwise be without gifts this holiday season. Attendees had the opportunity to win door prizes, which included a 43-inch HD flat-screen TV, a four-burner gas grill and passes to Wild Adventures Theme Park. Those who brought toys to donate had the chance to win additional prizes.
