Value Partners Investments Inc. Announces Investment Objective Changes for VPI Canadian Income Pool and VPI Canadian Equity Pool

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - Nov. 27, 2013) - Value Partners Investments Inc., the manager of VPI Canadian Income Pool and VPI Canadian Equity Pool (the "Pools"), announced today that it has received unitholder approval to change the investment objectives of the Pools. The investment strategies of the Pools will be amended to reflect their new investment objectives and the name of VPI Canadian Income Pool will change to VPI Income Pool. These changes will be effective on or about December 1, 2013.

The changes to the investment objectives were approved at special meetings of unitholders of the Pools held earlier today. The new investment objectives will provide more flexibility in the management of the Pools in order to enhance value for unitholders. The changes to the investment objectives for VPI Canadian Income Pool emphasize that the Pool's focus will be on the preservation of capital while investing in securities that provide a reasonable level of income and the potential for long-term capital growth, and provide the Pool with flexibility to invest in fixed income and equity securities that pay income without any geographic restrictions. The changes to the investment objectives of VPI Canadian Equity Pool permit the Pool to invest in securities outside of Canada, and the Pool will have the flexibility to invest up to 30% of its assets in non-Canadian securities, while retaining its focus on Canadian securities and remaining a Canadian equity fund.

Value Partners Investments Inc. has also recently announced that effective December 1, 2013, Patient Capital Management Inc. will become the principal portfolio manager of VPI Canadian Income Pool, with the responsibility of managing the asset allocation and equity securities portion of the Pool, and Canso Investment Counsel Ltd. will also become a portfolio manager of the Pool, with responsibility for managing a designated fixed income portion of the Pool.
