Van Drivers Are the Most Active Seekers of Cheap Petrol Deals, Says Swinton

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 26, 2011) - Recent surveys show that of all road users, van drivers are the most likely to go the extra mile to search out the cheapest petrol prices according to Swinton Commercial.

The UK's leading high street retailer of van insurance surveyed 1,200 online customers and found that 45% of van drivers would drive to a petrol station for a cheaper deal even if it were not the closest one, compared to 31% of car users and 27% of motorcyclists.

The low cost van insurance retailer also explained that as petrol prices continue to soar, 32% of van drivers go online to compare petrol prices and 38% make a mental note of prices as they drive past petrol stations. A further 10% of van drivers go to the cheapest supermarket where they can also get points for shopping.

Phil Moss Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton said, "Petrol prices are such a contentious issue at the moment, especially amid the conflict in oil-producing Libya. With the average price of unleaded costing £1.35 and Diesel at £1.42 per litre, it's not surprising that van drivers are so intent on seeking out the cheapest deals to try and alleviate the fuel price burden as much as possible."
