Van Drivers Head for Higher Ground

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 30, 2009) - Thousands of van drivers of taking their motors to high ground and out of reach of the severe floods that have swept the country.

Van owners are moving their vehicles out of flood zones to protect their motors and expensive equipment they contain from rising waters.

Some of the worst hit areas in the UK over the last week are Cockermouth, Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire and Upton upon Severn in Worcestershire.

Swinton Commercial, one of the UK's leading high street retailers of van insurance, is urging motorists to move their van out of harm's way.

Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Insurance Manager at Swinton, said: "When it comes to vans, not only are they a means of transport, but also a source of income. Often they will contain equipment vital to maintaining a business so it is imperative that the van is kept safe from floods.

"Although van insurance will cover the vehicle and its contents from flood waters, it will not protect against loss of income during the time it takes to replace the vehicle."
