Van Nuys Airport's Free Middle School and High School Program Focuses on Aviation Careers

VAN NUYS, CA--(Marketwire - June 8, 2007) - Van Nuys Airport (VNY) is seeking applications for a free summer program designed to educate San Fernando Valley middle and high school students about careers in aviation. A maximum of 25 students from both middle school and high school will be selected in the weeklong motivational program, known as the Aviation Careers Education (ACE) Academy.

Scheduled for Aug. 6-10, 2007 (middle school) and Aug. 20-24, 2007 (high school), from 8:30-4:30 each day, the ACE Academy will offer participants the opportunity to tour facilities at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), VNY, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and interact with employees representing a wide spectrum of aviation-related trade and professional occupations. The week will conclude with a commencement ceremony at VNY.

Applications for the program are currently being accepted. Priority will be given to students in the San Fernando Valley, although applications from students in other Los Angeles communities will also be accepted.
