Vancouver Career College Introduces Veterinary Assistant Program in Coquitlam

Train for a career working with animals in less than a year

COQUITLAM, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Jan. 7, 2014) - Animal lovers can now train for fulfilling careers with the Veterinary Assistant program at Vancouver Career College in Coquitlam. Developed with input from professionals within the industry, the new program combines course work, practical learning and a three-week practicum to prepare students to work in a variety of animal care facilities, including veterinary hospitals, animal shelters and zoos.

In just 49 weeks, the Veterinary Assistant program teaches students the crucial skills needed for work alongside animal health technologists and veterinarians. Courses include animal anatomy and physiology, animal husbandry and nutrition, surgical preparation and assisting, and diagnostic imaging. Students also learn fundamental administrative skills, including veterinary office procedures, billing, veterinary practice and hospital administration, marketing and client communication.

In addition, students gain real-world experience with an on-the-job practicum in a veterinary clinic or pet care environment.
