Vancouver Film Studios Announces Senior Appointments

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 2, 2007) - VANCOUVER FILM STUDIOS ("VFS") (, owner-operator of Canada's premier film and television production facility, is delighted to announce the following senior appointments:

Pete Mitchell

Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

With over six years of distinguished service in the development and marketing of the production facilities & services business, Pete Mitchell has been promoted from a senior marketing role at VFS to Executive VP & Chief Operating Officer responsible for operational and day-to-day management at VFS, Pacific Backlot Services, and the film and television activities of sister company, Signal Systems. "Since joining us after his time as British Columbia Film Commissioner," said Vancouver Film Studios President Sacha McLean, "Pete has demonstrated his ability, time and again, to understand the balance between keeping the facilities productive and delivering world class customer service. He has become a key member of our senior management team and we look forward to growing the business with the benefit of his leadership."

Gerry Rutherford

Vice President, Production Services

A prominent figure in Canada's film and television production community for many years as Business Agent for IATSE 669, Gerry Rutherford takes over the production equipment rental business, namely lighting and grip, dollies, locations, and related lift equipment. "I am tremendously excited about the industry experience and relationships Gerry brings to the role of running our production equipment rental division," said Sacha McLean. "He is that rare breed of manager who understands both the relationship side of the business and our disciplined approach to business fundamentals. He is," Sacha added, "going to help us take Pacific Backlot Services to the next level."

Jennifer Roe-Emery

Signal Film Coordinator

One of Vancouver's most accomplished film and television production coordinators, Jennifer Roe-Emery joins Vancouver Film Studios to deliver the products and services of affiliate Signal Systems, specifically in the sales, marketing, and support of IP voice and data services; mobile and satellite phones; set and trunking two-way radios; and other communication services. She will have overall responsibility for ensuring that the unique needs of the film and television production customers are met while driving Signal's film and television business forward. "There is something quite inspiring," said Pete Mitchell, "about hiring a person who would otherwise be one of your most demanding and revered customers. Jennifer knows exactly what the challenges of production are so I am confident she will bring together our diverse set of telecommunications products and services in a user-friendly package for film and television customers."
