Vancouver International Partnering Forum Key Digital Business Event at Vancouver Digital Week

EA, Disney, Nickelodeon, Nokia, NHK and Paramount Pictures to Attend this Year's Forum

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - Vancouver is preparing itself for another invasion of the digital media industry's finest as New Media BC proudly presents the Vancouver International Partnering Forum from May 12th to 13th at the newly opened Vancouver Exhibition and Convention Centre.Building on the momentum of last year's digital week, the Vancouver International Partnering Forum will take place over two days rather than one, allowing businesses more opportunities to build networks and invaluable business contacts. The VIPF is an exclusive event offering businesses and industry hopefuls the opportunity to meet industry veterans, decision-makers and cutting edge creators through networking sessions and hand selected B2B meetings. Last year, the popular one-on-one meetings spurned over 600 intense encounters with companies such as Electronic Arts, Disney and Microsoft. This year's list not only includes EA and Disney, but international powerhouses such as CAPCOM, Paramount Pictures, Nokia, Nickelodeon, NHK and developers from all over the world.

Christine Lim-Labossiere, the director of this dynamic approach to networking, explains how the sessions transpire. "Essentially each business is given 25 minutes to impress decisions makers from a company like Paramount with their concept or project idea. There's just time for a quick intro, short demo, shake of hands, exchange of business cards, website details and move on to the next date."

Also on this year's list of events is the renowned Game Developers Conference, which has moved north across the border in recognition of Vancouver's meteoric rise as an international hub for game development. Lim-Labossiere sees the GDC being held in Vancouver as a powerful testament to how much the industry has grown in the city, even amidst tough economic times. "There will be perfect synergy with the GDC, as the business leaders from the gaming companies will be able to cross over to the Forum at the Convention Centre and pick up to 10 tailored meetings per day," exclaims Lim-Labossiere. "It is designed as the ultimate networking event, a place to showcase Canadian talent in all sectors of digital media including Digital Entertainment, Social Media, E-learning and Interactive marketing."

The Vancouver International Partnering Forum is establishing a reputation as a pantheon where Digital Media Executives power network and close deals. VIPF attendees are looking forward to a productive week of networking with some of the industry's thought leaders.
