Vancouver Takes "The Next Step" After $1M Alcan Prize for Sustainability: 30 Days of Over 20 "Action" Sustainability Events April 22 - May 21

Beyond Earth Day and the "10 Ways to Green Your Life" List

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 21, 2008) - 30 Days of Sustainability ("30 Days"), which saw over 100 000 B.C. participants in 2007, inspires Vancouver's citizens, businesses and organizations to take "the next step" in sustainability by taking part in 30 Days' positive, fresh and sexy "umbrella" of over 20 existing events.

30 Days, a not-for-profit Society, is organized and produced under the stewardship of:

- Thomas Osdoba - 30 Days Chair

- Sonny Wong - 30 Days Treasurer, President and Creative director of Hamazaki Wong Marketing Group

- Richard Prokopanko - 30 Days Secretary, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Rio Tinto Alcan

- Mark Holland, Co-Founder and Principal of Holland Barrs

- Bruce Sampson, Vice President, Sustainability at BC Hydro

- Charles Holmes, Director

- Milton K. Wong

"Back in 2004, the 30 Days group wanted Vancouver to be the host city for the Alcan Prize for Sustainability Conference," says Sonny Wong, founding member and Chair of the 30 Days of Sustainability Society. "This included the presentation event for the US$1 million Alcan Prize for Sustainability, which we successfully staged in 2006," says Wong.

"This year, we want 30 days to become flexible and portable enough to expand beyond B.C.'s borders as a major export commodity."

Days' growing list of sponsors include Coast Capital Savings, Rio Tinto Alcan, CTV, The Tyee, happyfrog.ca, VanNet, Granville Magazine and Offsetters Climate Neutral Society.

"We are delighted to be presenting sponsor of 30 Days of Sustainability," says Coast Capital's Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Cyndie Kremyr. "As a corporate leader, we know that we all have an important role to play in making our world sustainable. We foster a culture of environmental awareness within Coast Capital Savings and throughout our market area. It makes such sense to partner with 30 Days to build awareness around easy and enjoyable 'next steps'."

"We've implemented measures to reduce paper, save trees, and create less waste," continues Kremyr. "Many of our members have opted out of receiving monthly statements and use online banking instead. Our dual-sided printers make better use of paper, and we work with local print companies who are environmentally responsible. Our printer and photocopier cartridges are completely recycled and eventually end up as outdoor playground equipment. We know that 30 Days will help individuals and businesses alike to see how easy it is to implement their own steps toward sustainability," says Kremyr.
