Vancouver's Community New Year's Eve Celebration Secures Key Financing, Presenting Sponsor, Concord Pacific, and Garners Support from Local Celebrities

A Limited Number of Tickets to VIP Viewing Area Released Today

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - November 20, 2015) - Vancouver's New Year's Eve Celebration Society today announced it has secured nearly $400,000 in funding through a combination of private, public and in-kind sponsorship to support the first all-ages, free community New Year's Eve event in the City in more than a decade. This week the City of Vancouver approved a $125,000 grant towards policing, safety personnel and equipment for the event. Concord Pacific has also come on as the presenting sponsor for the event, which include free programming, live music on the 102.7 THE PEAK Stage, food trucks, a midnight countdown, and a fireworks display over Burrard Inlet presented by Westpark.

"We are elated to see both Vancouver's private and public sectors coming together to support a shared vision for a free, all-ages community event," said Charles Gauthier, president of Vancouver's New Year's Eve Celebration Society, a not-for-profit community organization putting on the event. "Cultural events like these define our city and give residents of all ages and backgrounds a reason to come together as a community."

Local news, lifestyle and entertainment website Vancity Buzz, which founded the Society, today released a video with Anti-Social Media Solutions, featuring local celebrities such as Kirk McLean, Vikram Vij and Chin Injeti also relaying their support for the celebration, which is scheduled to take place in front of Canada Place, from 6:00 pm to 12:20 am on December 31st.

"When the opportunity arose to help make this New Year's Eve celebration happen we had to get involved," Matt Meehan, senior vice president, planning at Concord Pacific. "Being part of the community and supporting events that bring people together is an important part of the work we do."
