Vangent Completes Processing of 2010 U.S. Census Forms at Paper Data Capture Center in Phoenix, AZ

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - November 29, 2010) - Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process solutions, has completed support operations for the U.S. 2010 Census. The facility located in southwest Phoenix was one of three Paper Data Capture Centers nationwide that assisted in the data capture for the 2010 Census. The employees working at the Phoenix Paper Data Capture Center (PDCC) processed 40 percent of the country's 2010 Census forms.

"Vangent is proud of our performance on the 2010 U.S. Census and for successfully meeting every single service-level agreement," stated Mac Curtis, President and CEO of Vangent. "Our internal motto for this program was 'Excellence in Everything We Do.' From the first call answered by one of our bilingual customer service agents to the last form processed, our team pledged to perform beyond our customer's expectations. I'm proud to say we did just that. We are humbled to have been an important part of this historic event."

Vangent worked with 130 community-based organizations recruiting more than 16,000 applicants for 3,700 temporary positions. The 3,700 employees did an excellent job of processing more than 60 million forms while exceeding at accuracy and processing volume service levels. At peak production, employees averaged processing one million forms a day. Some of the highest rates were check-in of 3.1 million forms, document preparation and scanning of 1.2 million forms in a single day.

Vangent is part of the Lockheed Martin-led Decennial Response Integration System program team responsible for the people, process, technology and infrastructure for the 2010 Census. In addition to the PDCC site, Vangent also operated call centers in Lawrence, Kansas, Sandy, Utah and Phoenix, Arizona to support the 2010 Census. These call centers handled 1.8 million calls from respondents who had questions about how to complete the 2010 Census form and general questions about the U.S. Census. They also made several million outbound calls to residents to follow up with households to ensure no one was missed or counted more than once.

Community outreach was an important part of the project. The 3,700 employees made a positive impact in the community. Participating in the Arizona Heart Walk and St Patrick's Day Parade, Vangent employees spread the word about the importance of completing the census. U.S. troops serving overseas were treated to gifts and regular shipments of greetings from the staff. A total of 11,500 cards were sent to the troops along with more than 500 gifts. Donations to valley non-profits included more than $5,000 cash, 4,000 pounds of food and 300 gifts.

"We were proud to support the U.S. Census ten years ago, and again in 2010," said Craig Janus, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Civilian, Defense and National Security Division at Vangent. "Now that the 2010 Census has been concluded, we can look to an impressive list of statistics about the work that was performed, particularly what we accomplished in Phoenix. But the real story is about the dedication of our team and our employees who made it all happen."
